Game On: Animal Adventures: Tale of Dungeons and Doggies
“Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.
Dungeons and Doggies was created by Russ Charles who has worked in the games industry for many years and contributed to projects such as Reaper Bones, Dr Who, Warmachine, Resident Evil2, Guild Ball, Critical Role and more recently Humblewood D&D. He currently works full time as the lead in house sculptor for Steamford Games. Prior to being a sculptor he worked as a freelancer who supported many kickstarter games with miniatures and promotional item designs. All of his work is digital and he assists in running a high end 3D printer to actualize the sculpts that he makes. Russ became a miniature sculptor as a hobby and is entirely self taught.
Russ launched his Kickstarter campaign on July 18, 2018 and was funded within a few hours. He ran a competition during his campaign and had supporters take photos of their dogs in cosplay as inspiration for other characters to use as his sculptures. His campaign quickly gained even more momentum and was able to gain ten thousand supporters in less than two weeks. As his campaign went along Russ was also able to offer a painting guide for his sculptures and also a set of cat mini sculptures.
Animal Adventures: Tales of Dungeons and Doggies is a range of detailed miniatures that bring dogs straight to the table and into your adventuring party. With a Doggie model for every class in fifth edition there is a character for everyone. All of the Characters come with stories and lore that can be added to any adventure. The set not only has miniatures that are preassembled in ready to play or paint PVC but also a bespoke set of fifth edition compatible rues for using your animal adventure miniatures. All of the little dogs have names and are a specific breed.
Each of the dogs in Dungeons and Doggies are 25 mm and 20 mm bases that fit in the current scale with existing RPG miniatures. The dogs come with different names and roles such as wizard, ranger, cleric, paladin, druid, fighter, bard, sorcerer, monk, barbarian, rogue, and warlock. The accompanying adventure “Who’ll the Dogs Out?” is designed to be played with the characters included in the roles or with any party of equivalent level.
