“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment”

Shout Out Anthology was created by TO Comix Press to bring diversity to the comic scene as a comic book that was made specifically with queer people in mind. The mission of TO Comix is to publish comic work celebrating upcoming creators and diverse voices. “Growing up queer can be a very lonely experience. It can be difficult to find other people like you in the real world, and it can be just as difficult to see yourself represented in fictional worlds -- especially when queer stories are often treated as unsuitable for younger readers.”

Shout Out invited queer writers and artists from around the world to tell the genre stories that they wish they had grown up with; stories of romance, adventure, and friendship, with young queer heroes at their heart.  They wanted future generations to know that they can be heroes too and that their stories deserve to be told. The book has a wide range of settings and characters that experience different things.

Each of the stories is illustrated and colorful. They are pleasant and positive, and are appropriate for a teen audience. Viking lovers, non binary witch, stylish manhattan men, and a boy who can speak with the dead are just a few of the characters that are featured in the comic books. One of the stories is about a boy who wants to find out if he is gay by kissing a boy. He summons a demon and he and the demon kiss. At the end of the story the demon leaves him with his number so that he can call him if he needs anything.

Shout Out is a 216 page book with full color pages of gorgeous artwork. featuring 18 stories starring bold queer teen heroes. The collection features stories with lead characters who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, non-binary, gender non-conforming, two spirit, or asexual.
