“Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.”

Apollo Randall is the creator of British vs Pirates  Volume 2. After the success of his Original Game he decided to release an expansion that could also stand on it’s own. Apollo really loves pirates and has his own pirate man cave. Aside from pirates, he also loves games. His company sells pirate ship miniatures, artwork, and the games that he has produced. He designed the game for anyone that loves pirates and naval battles.

Apollo reached out to Kickstarter to launch his game British vs Pirates Volume 2. Apollo started off by doing a live stream of his game and answering questions. He was able to show his backers some of the game components. Apollo introduced a new Buccaneer fleet that would be part of his volume 2 section of his game. As his campaign moved forward he was also able to introduce a new section of the game that would include a South Sea Alliance with ships that looked like they had more asian influence. Beasts of War did an unboxing video of the game on their blog to show backers what would be included in the game. Apollo was able to raise $63, 610 for the funding of his game.

The storyline of British vs Pirates Volume 2 is that there are stories of the diminished royal navy of pirate fleets have echoed throughout Europe, and now the french navy are eager to join the fight. They set a course for new islands in the Caribbean. Deserted sailors and criminals from the area have banded together to create their own faction called the Buccaneers. These nomads of the sea are an excellent shot and can pick up an enemy from up to 300 yards. The game is an expansion of the original British vs Pirates but can also stand on its own.

The cards in the game are beautifully illustrated  and the game includes miniature ships to do battle with. Mission cards allow you to unlock new skills and new mission decks and try to earn more victory points. There are 10 captain cards, and and 50 skill cards. The event deck brings challenges, penalties, and even the Kraken. There are 18+ miniatures that are found within the game.
