“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment”

The ONDU pinhole camera has no lens, no focus, no mirror and no batteries but it can create images that are breathtaking. The ONDU is a tool for the creative photographer, it is simple to use and the camera is made with attention to detail. Each ONDU camera is made with the best possible quality. Every wooden part is made in their workshop and is made by craftsmen. The natural wood on the camera is very beautiful, and it add a fun a unique aspect to the hobby of photography by providing a beautiful, fun and unique tool.

The most important aspect of the pinhole camera is the camera shutter. ONDU made sure that the shutter runs smoothly, is shake free, has short exposures, makes a clicking sound and makes the use of filters possible.  The ONDU has a red window shutter, this is the same shutter system that is included in am actual camera shutter. The shutter is lightproof and makes it possible to use 135 film with the use of an adapter in our medium format cameras. The large red window is easier to see the frame number in direct sunlight.

The camera comes with the ability to add different filters by snapping them on. The filters are magnetic and can easily be changed out. The camera can use ND filters, IR film and color filters for black and white photography. With the RISE series it is only possible to use the COKIN A series type filters. I can easily snap them on and off without any screw. The filters can be purchased separately and are not available with the camera.

The rise series is available in walnut wood that features multiple holes located in the center and film plane thirds. It composes the images with the rule of thirds in mind without distorting the perspective in our image as was traditionally done. The ONDU Rise is the most advanced camera so far. It has many new capabilities such as the ability to choose between three holes, snap on filters, the option to use 135 film with modification thanks to the red window shutter. ONDU also sells a tripod and other kinds of pinhole cameras to choose from to find out more about ONDU and their cameras please visit the links below.
