“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment.

The Ranger Backpack and Roam Field Bag from Ridgemont are a welcome reprieve from the typical nylon backpack. Their bags are made from waxed cotton canvas and full-grain leather. These bags look better the more you use them, and have all the features you need, without any extra features you don’t.

Both bags are waterproof and built with quality materials. The high thread count cotton canvas and oiled full-grain leather mean the bag will survive whatever adventure you go on. While canvas and leather are beautiful, they aren’t easy to clean, which is why I like the PU coated tarpaulin lining inside the bag that makes for a quick cleanup. The lining also helps the bag keep its shape so I don’t have to worry about the bag sagging over time.

I like the molded and padded back of the Ranger Backpack that keeps air moving and fits my body. There is a convenient laptop pocket in the back and the water bottle pocket can easily be clipped out of place when it’s not being used to avoid the extra bulk.

It’s a simple bag with a big pocket for your big stuff and smaller pockets for smaller stuff. Ridgemont set out to keep things simple and give you what you need, and that’s what they have accomplished with this set of bags. Their classic daypack is elegant and not overcomplicated.

The Roam Field Bag is a perfect size. Not too small or too big. It’s great for those things I don’t want to have to take my backpack off to grab: wallet, phone, earbuds, and a snack. The front flap is magnetic which is a good compromise between a zipper and no attachment piece at all. It feels secure without feeling like a whole process to access. The micro-suede pockets offer a space for more precious cargo I wouldn’t want to worry about getting scratched in the other spaces.

Ridgemont is a company filled with outdoor enthusiasts who are redefining what outdoor gear should look and feel like. Before these bags, they focused on creating quality hiking boots and shoes that are perfect for any adventure. These bags complement their shoes and believe there is brilliance in simplicity.
