Delivered: Aurora: Thunders of the Deep
“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment.
Aurora: Thunders of the Deep is a 48-page graphic novel that kicks off a new series of superheroes and storytelling. Featuring the main character, Aurora Lyght, readers are transported to a world where the atom was never split, and superpowers started a different kind of arms race.
This graphic novel is beautifully designed and published. The storyline is thrilling and draws the reader in immediately. I appreciate the character development and attention to detail. It was created by Sorah Suhng, written by Wes Knpe, and beautifully drawn by Giorgia Sposito and colored by Kate Colors. These artists did a great job with their craft to put together a seamless kickoff to a new series.
Aurora is a refreshingly new kind of superhero where femininity isn’t perceived as a weakness but as a source of power. I like how the story line changes world events that we know into what they could have been without certain technological advances and with a world with a superhuman race. All books have been signed by the creator Sorah Suhng and behind-the-scene content was added. Sorah Suhng also promised a second book of Aurora’s story is coming so readers can become invested into her story long after the last page.
